| Message: | | I've got an intermittant starting problem with 2003 M3 with 40k miles. Almost 2 years ago it wouldn't start and I tried all the usual things and had it picked up and delivered to Fletcher BMW, Fletcher, NC. When they rolled it off the truck something had reset and it started. Dealer ran all the tests and didn't find anything. Five weeks ago, same problem and had it towed to Dealer. Same result. it started. Left the car with dealer for 4 weeks to find a fix while I went on a 4 week motorcycle trip out west. Picked the car up last Thursday and they hadn't found anything. Drove it home and two days later it wouldn't start. Finally it started after turning key on and off many times and moving the SMG Shift lever. Taking the car back to the dealer this morning. They say they can't start replacing parts until they see it fail. I'm insisting they start replacing parts as I can't take the car out and chance getting stuck. Anyone have experience like this? My mc riding buddy who was an automotive engineeer at Ford and GM thinks I have a pending problem with the ignition switch, the lockout brake sensor, or the neutral safety switch. I have the BMW Warranty and am looking for some leverage to elevate this issue. Appreciate any input on any of this..
