help on that issue ?
there is an oil cooler I believe but BMW has been running low on cooling surfaces notoriously. Adding a simple fluid cooler up front and splicing into the line - adding more fluid to raise the level back up - should have a good effect on this.
the oil coolers are inexpensive but the SMG isn't ! I think even with the overheat protection in place you actually causing severe tear and wear on a overheated/almost overheated SMG transmission.
I don't have my E46 M3 SMG but in a process of buying one soon, so I will look into this.
if we find a perfectly sized unit and fabricate some brackets, that could be also sold as a kit to help others.
the last thing we need is a failing SMG unit and a dealer's word on the repair - "...replacement unit must be installed..."
